Using tutorials from SOEP-CoreΒΆ
SOEP-Core offers various instructions on how to use the data and documentation. Since the data structure of SOEP-IS is based on that of SOEP-Core, much of this information is also valid for SOEP-IS and can be adopted. The SOEP-Core-Companion thus also provides a good reference for using the SOEP-IS. Although SOEP-Core is more comprehensive in terms of the data it offers and has both more datasets in general and more variables in identical cross-study datasets, the basic principles for the data available in SOEP-IS are largely identical. However, it is advisable to first familiarize with the SOEP-IS data in order to be able to assess which information is only relevant for SOEP-Core (e.g. because some datasets are not available in SOEP-IS). The SOEP-IS data is less complex than SOEP-Core and not all information from SOEP-Core is relevant when working with SOEP-IS data only.
To get a first overview of the data offered by SOEP-IS, we recommend the paneldata.org website that lists all the datasets: https://paneldata.org/soep-is/datasets/
In the following you will find some links to the pages of the SOEP-Core-Companion, which could also be relevant when working with the SOEP-IS:
