SOEP-IS Questionnaires Overview
The SOEP basically offers different types of questionnaires, such as the scanned paper questionnaires or the metadata-based PDFs with additional information. In SOEP-IS there are no paper questionnaires, therefore the metadata-based questionnaires are the main part of the questionnaire documentation. Since 2022, the metadata-based questionnaires no longer simply replicate the questionnaire, but serve as a direct programming template. This means that the actual questionnaire can be represented almost identically, but this makes filters, loops and complex programming more difficult to read in the PDF.
Below is a table with an overview of the most relevant metadata-based questionnaires of SOEP-IS. In previous years, refreshment samples received separate questionnaires in the first year of their participation. These questionnaires sometimes differed from the ones that were answered by the rest of the panel. Since 2022, all samples receive an integrated questionnaire that is controlled by using filters. Nevertheless, separate questionnaires with specific content may still exist.
The metadata-based questionnaires are sometimes updated if content must be added or mistakes are corrected. The old questionnaires are then not always overwritten. A new version may be provided for better transparency. It is then advisable to use the latest version. The following table only contains links to the most up-to-date versions of the questionnaires at the time of creation of this site.
Please note that the SOEP-IS survey is only conducted in German. The English versions of the questionnaires are for documentation purposes only. However, some questionnaires are not available in both languages.
This table only contains questionnaires from the years since 2011. Questionnaires that were answered by SOEP-IS participants before 2011 as part of SOEP-Core are not included. It is only a list of the most relevant questionnaires and not a complete list of all the survey instruments used.
