Epigenetic Markers of Stress

Short Description: We want to study whether the psychological distress caused by socio-economic factors is also related to epigenetic markers of stress and whether the biological adaptation to an adverse environment is a limiting factor that prevents the individual from breaking the vicious cycle of socio-economic- and chronic psychological stress.

Methodological Details: 25 self-report items on stress symptoms (Subclinical Stress Symptome Questionnaire, SSQ-25), e.g, “I could not get up because I was exhausted” and “I was quickly annoyed, irritable, or moody”. In addition, saliva samples were taken and were to be analyzed by the researchers.

Information about the data: Due to unforeseen circumstances, sequencing/analysis of the saliva samples did not take place. Accordingly, no evaluable data was generated.
