Video-interviewing as part of a targeted multi-mode design in household panel surveys

Methodological Details: Just like in 2024, the module intends to interview a subsample of SOEP-IS using computer-assisted live video interview mode (CALVI). The module contains questions to evaluate the interview mode.

However, since the response rate in 2024 was significantly lower in the CALVI mode than in the other modes, it was no longer used in 2025. Specifically, this means that some questions in the questionnaire - which were intended exclusively for respondents in this mode - were not surveyed. The affected CALVI-exlusive variables will be included in the data with only missing values. Nevertheless, questions from this module, which were to be asked in other survey modes anyway, were surveyed. In that respect, the module was not completely removed from the survey.
