Self-Insight Motive Scale

Short Description: The self-insight motive describes the dispositional tendency to strive for accurate self-knowledge. We added a short scale for the assessment of the self-insight motive, the self-insight motive scale, to the SOEP-IS. The scale can be used to investigate the nomological net, developmental antecedents and cogntive-behavioral consequences of the self-insight motive.

Methodological Details: The scale assesses cognitions, emotions, and behaviors that are indicative of a striving for accurate self-knowledge with regard to one’s own personality and abilities. It consists of five self-report items (e.g., “I want to know exactly what my strengths and weaknesses are.”).
